In 2009, a few people wanted to improve their neighbourhood.
They created Sustainable South Osborne Community Cooperative.
Since then, friends, residents, and students developed several sites, formerly patches of weeds, into garden spaces known as the Sustainable South Osborne Community Cooperative (SSOCC).
We grow food using the permaculture principles of Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share. Any resident of Winnipeg is welcome to join. Volunteers tend the gardens for a share of the harvest, with the help and guidance of garden stewards. We show people how to grow. Together, we have the capacity to harvest thousands of pounds of food and share the abundance with volunteers and residents in need.
