We believe in building more resilient communities through growing food.

Do you want to help grow healthy urban green spaces?

Maybe you just need some garden therapy.

Volunteer with us. We’ve converted barren public land to fruitful garden spaces in the South Osborne neighbourhood. Building community, growing food, and sharing produce with volunteers and those in need.

Find community, wherever and whoever you are.

You don’t need to live in the neighbourhood to join the movement. Regardless of whether this is your first or thirtieth year gardening, we encourage you to join us and meet like-minded people.

Learn it. Grow it.

Empower yourself by learning the skills and techniques to grow your own food. The more food literate we become, the more resilient we are as a community. Let’s learn and become stronger, together.

Garden Clubs

We host four clubs that offer regularly-scheduled volunteer times during the growing season.

Workshops

We offer workshops on a sliding-scale fee structure. You can learn about pruning fruit trees, growing mushrooms, making jams, and more.

Treaty Acknowledgement

SSOCC respects the land that we care for and acknowledges the First Nations who traditionally lived here before us – the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples. We also recognize this area as the homeland of the Métis Nation. We understand the role we must play in upholding the promises made in the treaties and other agreements, both in the spirit of reconciliation and the pursuit of decolonization.
